This painting started with some time at the library, looking at the history of the arcade, its development and controversy, its multiple renewals, lives and businesses held within its structure. I collaged printed articles onto cradled birch board, along with old maps showing the previous names of streets around the arcade. I used a photo from the (Walter Williams Photography collection_Arcade 676.jpg, public library) as a reference for the painting on top of the collage.
